Entre les Rangs at the Boston Seaport

A sensory stroll through an urban field. We are immediately drawn to the expanse of long, waving crystalline stems planted in the heart of the city. A tribute to fields of wheat that shimmer in the wind as the seasons pass, Entre les rangs covers a public space with thousands of flexible white stems topped with white reflectors that capture the rhythm of the surrounding urban space and reflect its life. The installation’s changing nature – depending on wind, precipitation, light (both natural and artificial) and human interaction – encourages visitors to return.

Mural: Jackson Pollock & Katharina Grosse at the MFA Boston

Stretching nearly twenty feet wide by eight feet high, Mural (1943) is the largest painting Jackson Pollock (1912–1956) ever made, and it proved a breakthrough for the artist. Across the painting’s dense and vibrant surface, Pollock’s bold brushstrokes appear to dance rhythmically. Today, Mural is recognized as one of the pivotal achievements of Pollock’s career, the moment when he left figuration behind, expanded the scale of his work, and started to develop his signature drip technique. “I took one look at it,” the critic Clement Greenberg later said, “and I knew Jackson was the greatest painter this country had produced.”

In a fantastic example of the Virgil Finlay illustrated dust jacket, Fine, with just a touch of rubbing and very faint toning to the spine panel. An absolutely stunning copy of this cornerstone of horror, and the first book to be published by the legendary Arkham House.

Kittery Historical & Naval Museum

Naval vessels have been built along the Piscataqua River since the Revolution, starting with John Paul Jones’ sloop The Ranger which launched from Badger’s Island in 1777. At Kittery’s museum, exhibits include shipbuilding displays, carvings by the famed nautical carver John Haley Bellamy, old photographs, toys, archeological finds, ancient tools and household artifacts.

The Wadsworth–Longfellow House

Within its walls lived three generations of one remarkable family that made significant contributions to the political, literary, and cultural life of New England and the United States. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807–1882), grew up in the house and went on to become one of the most famous men of his time. General Peleg Wadsworth, built the house in 1785–1786, and the last person to live there was Anne Longfellow Pierce, Henry's younger sister. Mrs. Pierce, widowed at an early age, lived in the house until her death in 1901. At that time, in accordance with a deed she executed in 1895, the house passed to the Maine Historical Society to be preserved as a memorial to her famous brother and their family. Virtually all of the household items and artifacts are original to the Wadsworth and Longfellow families. Furnishings from the three generations illustrate changes in style, technology, and attitude over the 19th century. Peleg and Elizabeth Wadsworth raised ten children in the house before retiring to the family farm in Hiram, Maine, in 1807.

The Tate House Museum- Portland, Maine


The #TateHouseMuseum was constructed for Captain George Tate (1700-1794), who had arrived in the Colonies with his family around 1750. Captain Tate served as the Senior Mast Agent for the British Royal Navy, overseeing the cutting and shipping of white pines from Maine to England. His position bestowed upon him a prominent status in the community which is reflected in the style of architecture selected for this home. With its clapboards still unpainted, Tate House is one of two residences in Maine with an unusual subsumed dormer in the gambrel roof. As the only Pre-Revolutionary home in Greater Portland open to the public, Tate House offer an insightful glimpse at the 18th century and life in Colonial Maine through impressive period furnishings, beautiful grounds, herb gardens, and unique architecture.
